Frequently Asked Questions
What are your hours? We do not have set hours. We are generally at the shop Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a break from 2-3:30. We are in the shop on Saturday generally from 10-12. We often leave for deliveries and you may not catch us at the shop. The closer it is to the weekend, the busier we are creating so it’s always best to call ahead of time.
How can I place an order? You can place an order through a consultation, by phone, or an email. We do check our messages on Facebook but we can miss those messages. For the most immediate response, we suggest an email or phone call. Include what your event is, the date of your event, how many guests you would like to serve, and any design ideas you may have.
Can you make this cake? Pictures are often shared with us and we are asked “can we make this cake?” All of the cakes we create are custom. We welcome seeing the pictures that inspire you as well as hearing your ideas but we will not recreate anyone else’s work exactly. We take inspiration from those images you show us and design something unique to your occasion and number of guests.
Should I make an appointment for a consultation? Absolutely. It’s always best to make an appointment to be sure we’re available to discuss your cake and that we have availability to make your cake. Being a small boutique business, we have limited availability. We do not compromise our creations but overbooking. Provided we have availability to make your cake, we need at least 2-3 weeks to schedule a consultation for a custom cake and 1-2 months for a wedding cake. There is a feel for an in person consultation but if you decide to order your cake that day then we use that fee towards the price of the cake.
Is a deposit required to order? Yes, all custom orders require a non-refundable deposit of half the balance of the cake to reserve a date an time. This can be paid in person or we can invoice you through a secure server via email. We do not accept credit cards over the phone.
Do you have items already prepared to pickup at the shop? At this point in time we do not keep cakes already made on hand for you to just grab and go. We often offer extra items available to be picked up around holidays (Christmas, Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Graduation, Halloween, Thanksgiving). On occasion we have cupcakes, cookies, or whoopie pies available to grab and go towards the weekends. It’s always best to give a call ahead of time to find out if there are any available. Or join our Facebook page, Instagram page, or emailing list to find out when these “Pop-Up Bakery Items” are available.
Do you make any items that are allergy free? Our facility does have items such as eggs, nuts, and flour on premise. We do not decontaminate our equipment of these ingredients so that they would be completely safe for people with food allergies to consume. If you are able to have food items that are process on equipment with such allergens, then we can create something for you. There is always a risk of contamination so do not take a chance if you have a sever allergy.
What is your pricing for your cakes? Our pricing is custom because our cakes are custom. Our basic cakes (butter cream covered cake with a simple butter cream boarder and writing on it) have set pricing of $3 a person and this is where all cake prices start. This price is not negotiable. There are a lot of factors that go into setting a price for a cake. We make our items from scratch and by hand. We do not use an edible image printer, we create by hand. Pricing is factored by how much time goes into creating the design of the cake, number of servings, degree of difficulty of the design, the cost of the ingredients to create the look you are going for, and packaging and supports to keep your cake fresh and stable.
Do you deliver? We deliver for a fee. You can pick-up your cake if you would like to conserve on costs but we are not responsible if something happens to your cake if you pick it up.
